strategies, including a discussion of the seven forms of waste, the definition of value-added, the
difference between push and pull systems, and the importance of continuous improvement. This
class also highlights other quality concepts, such as single minute exchange of dies (SMED),
inventory reduction, and Five S. Students will also complete OSHA 10-Hour General Industry
Manufacturing content to introduce recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety
and health hazards in workplaces.
